Enchantment Permit Area Lottery Recommendation

To provide analytics consulting services for an adventure outfitting company to secure a 4 day backpacking permit into the Enchantments so that the can create a promotional video with their team in this pristine and highly coveted alpine lakes region.

2021-2022 Lottery Statistics data consisting of 217k unique application result with 10 columns including preferred entry date, preferred zone, maximum requested group size and so on. Historical weather data of 535 days including rain fall and temperature.

1. Defined Important Metrics and Visualized

In order to increase the likelihood of winning the lottery, I defined several important metrics, such as the preferred entry date, the area of the Enchantments to visit​ and the number of people in the party, and used Tableau to create graphs to observe the trends.

2. Built Interactive Dashboards

I combined the application data with the weather data and built an interactive dashboard to further analyze the key features of the admitted applications.

3. Created a Data Story

Finally, I created a data story to elaborate the findings of my analysis. For example, Applications for May got the highest awarded rate, followed by applications for October. As for the maximum group size, the group size of 1 is easy to win the lottery.
